Sikhism

Founded by Nanak in 1469 at Lahore, India (present day Pakistan), Sikhism is a monotheistic and egalitarian religion with roots in both Hinduism and Islam.

The torch passed from Nanak successively to nine subsequent Gurus (or teachers) before the tenth Guru, Gobind Singh, ended the succession when he awarded Guruship jointly to the Adi Granth and the Panth (entire Sikh community).
