France Considers Banning Turbans and Other Religious Symbols in Schools

Europe-1 radio station reported that French President Jacques Chirac and Prime Minister Pierre Raffarin approached warmly to the idea of banning usage of religious symbols in schools. The law that will be adopted on the issue will reportedly be very strict and have a wide scope. The final attitude towards turban, which is one of the most controversial issues in France nowadays, is getting clarified. Europe-1 radio reported on Wednesday noon that that French President Jacques Chirac and Prime Minister Pierre Raffarin warmly approached to the opinion that religious symbols, led by turban, should be banned in schools.
