About Uttam Singh Randhawa
Uttam Singh Randhawa (grandson of Lakhman Singh) and Kulwant Kaur raised six children (in chronological order):
- Avtar Singh; Offspring: Mickey, Alpana (Meeta), and Chanderdeep (Baba)
- Avtar studied engineering at I.I.T. (Roorkee, India), where he was a celebrated squash player.
Alpana is married to N.P. Singh, who is in the Indian Merchant Navy. They have a daughter, Jasreen, and a son, Deepan.
- Kuldeep Kaur (Brar); Spouse: Guriqbal Singh; Offspring: Pavit Singh and Amitabh (Amit) Singh
- Kuldeep has been a school teacher off and on.
Guriqbal retired as general manager from India's Oil and Natural Gas Commission (O.N.G.C.).
Pavit was educated at I.I.T. (Kanpur, India) and Johns Hopkins Univeristy (Baltimore, Maryland) and is currently director of category sales development with Yahoo!. He lives in Sunnyvale, California with his wife, Jyoti, and daughter, Meher. Jyoti completed graduate studies at the State University of New York (S.U.N.Y., Buffalo, New York).
Amitabh was educated at Banaras Hindu University's Institute of Technology (I.T.-B.H.U.), the University of Cincinnati in Ohio, and University of Maryland's School of Public Affairs, where he interned with the World Bank. Presently, he is based in Kabul as a technical advisor to Microfinance Investment Support Facility for Afghanistan (M.I.F.S.A.). Previously, he led the Microfinance Impact Assessment Team at E.D.A. Rural Systems in India. Amitabh is married to Pooja (nee Bhatt). They have a daughter, Hannah.
- Surendra Kaur (Gill); Spouse: Balbir Singh; Offspring: Amrit (Meetu) Kaur and Bikram (Kaku) Singh
- Surendra has been a school teacher off and on.
Balbir retired as chief engineer (Uttar Pradesh) from India's public sector. Now based in Chandigarh.
Amrit is married to Puneet Mahajan. They have a daughter, Ananya, and a son, Shaurya. They lived in Panchkula, Haryana for several years and recently moved to Simla, India.
Bikram was educated at the Institute of Technology at Banaras Hindu University (I.T.-B.H.U.). Currently, he is a senior software engineer at Symphony Services in Bangalore, India. Previously he was a software engineer at Quark Incorporated, a leading manufacturer of publishing software, in Mohali (Punjab, India) and was working on their new e.C.R.M. product, Mercury.
- Paramjit (Pamma) Singh; Paramjit, a former captain in the Indian merchant navy, is based near Chandigarh.
- Jagjeet (Jeet) Kaur; Jagjeet was a school teacher for many years in India and recently migrated to Sydney, Australia to join Jagdish there.
